From 2016, most of my students in Singapore had an average improvement of half a letter grade within a semester in English, Math, Sciences and Humanities. - Since 2022, most of my students in the United States improved by a GPA score of 0.5, which is a 5% improvement on average. - I would tailor the lesson according to the student’s needs and abilities. I utilise the Socratic Method, as spoon-feeding the answers and just teaching to the test without having a good grasp of the concepts is ineffective in understanding the material at hand. - I have been teaching primary school and secondary school kids in Singapore, and elementary school and middle school kids in the United States, both in person and online. - I do have experience tutoring online, in fact I prefer it. So far I have used only Zoom.
9 years of teaching experience, I had a S3 Physics/Chemistry student last year, who went from B3 to A1 in 6 months, and a S3 Biology/Chemistry student last year, who went from C6 to B4 in 6 months. Currently, I have 2 S3 Biology/Chemistry students. I also provide in-depth examination tricks and tips because I believe that content mastery and exam strategies go hand-in-hand. Above all, I believe in being a friend and a senior that my student can trust and confide in, instead of relying solely on the syllabus and drilling questions (we will do that too, no worries). This allows me to gain better insights into students' unique pain points and challenges faced. I believe in being a friend first. I guide the students on what to do even if they forget certain things during exams, how to solve a question from scratch even when they forget everything or don't understand what it is asking. I also utilise metaphors and diagrams to explain and classify things for easier memorization; identifying and correcting students' misconceptions and assumptions, understanding what students are confused about, helping them to see where they have gone wrong and in what circumstances will their wrong answers be correct.
