I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, after graduating with a Diploma in Biomedical Science with a GPA of 3.7/4. My academic background, combined with a strong passion for community service and education, has shaped my commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others through learning. Since 2016, I have been tutoring underprivileged children, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on building their confidence and love for learning. Over the years, I’ve worked with students from diverse backgrounds and learning needs, tailoring my teaching methods to suit each individual. My efforts in academic mentoring and community outreach were recognised in 2017 when I received the Book Prize Award from current President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. In addition to academic tutoring, I have been actively volunteering at speech therapy centres since 2019, which has given me invaluable insight into working with children who have communication challenges. This experience has deepened my understanding of the importance of patience, adaptability, and empathy in any teaching role.
My teaching journey began in 2016 with tutoring underprivileged children, many of whom faced academic and personal obstacles. I provided support in core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science, adapting my approach to each student’s learning style and pace. Through consistent engagement, I helped several students improve not only their grades but also their motivation and self-esteem. From 2019 onwards, I expanded my experience by volunteering at speech therapy centres. While not traditional academic teaching, this role involved working closely with children to support their communication development — reinforcing patience, clear instruction, and the ability to create a supportive learning environment. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in both academic tutoring and educational support. They have also taught me the importance of empathy, structure, and encouragement in helping every student reach their potential.
