About Myself
I am rooted in the belief that education is not just about imparting knowledge but inspiring curiosity. I strive to create a learning environment that is both challenging and supportive, encouraging students to explore, question, and discover. I also have a Specialist Diploma in Teaching and Supporting Children with Special Needs, as well as additional training in learning and performance. I have extensive experience supporting students with different learning needs, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and learning difficulties. I use structured, multi-sensory and differentiated approaches where appropriate, adapting my lessons to each child's learning style, pace and confidence level.
My Experience
Former MOE teacher at Nanyang Girls High and Commonwealth Secondary. 15 years of experience teaching Science for PSLE and O/N level students. I have a strong focus on Primary Science and PSLE preparation. I hold a B.Sc. in Biology and a Master’s in Science from NUS, together with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from NIE. My formal training in education, combined with extensive tutoring experience, allows me to understand both the academic demands of the PSLE and the different ways children learn. My teaching approach focuses on building strong foundations while developing the problem-solving and answering techniques required to excel in PSLE examinations. For Mathematics, I guide students to understand concepts clearly, identify the requirements of different question types and apply the appropriate methods systematically. I place particular emphasis on problem-solving skills and helping students tackle challenging and unfamiliar questions with confidence. For Science, I focus on ensuring students genuinely understand the underlying concepts rather than relying purely on memorisation. Students are taught how to identify key information, apply concepts to different scenarios and structure their answers according to what the question requires. This helps them develop the critical thinking and application skills needed for the PSLE Science paper.
