I strongly believe in active recall, and it is important to emphasize important key concepts and keywords so that students will be able to apply them when answering the questions. I will first go through the content and correct misconceptions. Nearing the examination, I will make students do timed practice to have more awareness of the time they spend and focus on exam-styled questions. Past students have graduated with mainly A/Bs. I have taken students from a variety of JCs and am familiar with the Cambridge requirements. I am also familiar with the new practical skills needed for practical assessment. I can also provide notes with key concepts for every topic, essential practice questions, teach students answering techniques and ways to do effective revision. I try to help students with practice questions with suggested answers after they have attempted to answer the questions on their own and with my guidance. This way, they go through the thinking process for themselves and learn the skills required, which is a key component of the A Level syllabus with its emphasis on critical thinking.
Experienced in JC / IB & Uni level Biology and Chemistry with more than 6 years of experience since my A level days. I also provide in-depth examination tricks and tips because I believe that content mastery and exam strategies go hand-in-hand. I guide the students on what to do even if they forget certain things during exams, how to solve a question from scratch even when they forget everything or don't understand what it is asking. I also utilise metaphors and diagrams to explain and classify things for easier memorization; identifying and correcting students' misconceptions and assumptions, understanding what students are confused about, helping them to see where they have gone wrong and in what circumstances will their wrong answers be correct. I have also done university research projects and have completed two research projects and am currently working on the third one.
