About Myself

For Science, I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation by helping students understand scientific concepts instead of memorising facts. I guide students in making connections between topics, applying concepts to unfamiliar scenarios, and developing the answering techniques required for open-ended questions. Through real-world examples, guided inquiry, and structured questioning, students learn to think scientifically and explain their reasoning clearly and accurately. For math, I adopt the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach and use chunking techniques to help students break down complex concepts into manageable steps. I also incorporate real-life examples to make abstract mathematical ideas more meaningful and relatable. Having been trained in ICAN (Improving Confidence and Achievement in Numeracy), I am particularly experienced in helping lower primary students develop strong numeracy skills and mathematical confidence. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's learning needs, strengths, and pace. I believe that lasting improvement comes from building strong conceptual understanding rather than relying solely on drilling. Students receive personalised guidance, targeted practice, and continuous feedback to ensure steady progress. Over the years, I have helped numerous students achieve significant improvements, including students progressing to AL1/2 for PSLE, substantial improvements in Science within a single academic year, earning Good Progress Awards and moving from average performance to becoming among the top students in their class. My Experience

I am an MOE-trained Primary English and Mathematics teacher with over 14 years of teaching and tutoring experience, specialising in Primary level science. I'm a graduate from the National University of Singapore (NUS), holding a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. About Myself

About Myself

Parents know me as a very patient and sincere tutor who really wants to help my students improve. In my years of tutoring, I have an excellent track record; all my students showed improvement in their results (1-4 grade improvement). Track record: 2023 O levels students improved from E8 in MYE (Sec 4h) to B3 in O Levels after 6 months tutoring. Students for 1-2years tutoring consistently score A1/2. My approach would be to first assess their strength and weaknesses. For weaker topics, I will do an intensive crash course in order to get their foundation right and get them up to speed so that they will be able to cope with upcoming topics. Once the foundation is set, following lessons will include a light recap and revision of those topics whilst the main bulk of the lesson will then focus on the current topics and practice questions together. Nearing exams, we will be doing selected exam paper questions together for exposure and guided practice. I do my best to explain complex concepts in simple terms so that they will better understand and apply them. I will also explain the rationale for each step and point out important questions or concepts that will be commonly seen in O/N levels papers. I will also teach them methods and strategies that will help them overcome challenging questions and optimize their time during their exams. Students can also text me any time outside of lessons should they have any questions or require help with their homework.

My Experience

15 years private tutoring experience specialising in secondary and O / N level students for E & A Math. I started tutoring extensively while I was still pursuing my degree in NUS. My style is to focus on different working strategies and questions so that the student can be exposed to a variety of techniques in problem solving. One problem can have a few different approaches to reach the solution, and I like to teach my students the different methods and let them choose which technique they prefer so that it is easier for them. About Myself

I strongly believe in active recall, and it is important to emphasize important key concepts and keywords so that students will be able to apply them when answering the questions. I will first go through the content and correct misconceptions. Nearing the examination, I will make students do timed practice to have more awareness of the time they spend and focus on exam-styled questions. Past students have graduated with mainly A/Bs. I have taken students from a variety of JCs and am familiar with the Cambridge requirements. I am also familiar with the new practical skills needed for practical assessment. I can also provide notes with key concepts for every topic, essential practice questions, teach students answering techniques and ways to do effective revision. I try to help students with practice questions with suggested answers after they have attempted to answer the questions on their own and with my guidance. This way, they go through the thinking process for themselves and learn the skills required, which is a key component of the A Level syllabus with its emphasis on critical thinking.

My Experience

Experienced in JC / IB & Uni level Biology and Chemistry with more than 6 years of experience since my A level days. I also provide in-depth examination tricks and tips because I believe that content mastery and exam strategies go hand-in-hand. I guide the students on what to do even if they forget certain things during exams, how to solve a question from scratch even when they forget everything or don't understand what it is asking. I also utilise metaphors and diagrams to explain and classify things for easier memorization; identifying and correcting students' misconceptions and assumptions, understanding what students are confused about, helping them to see where they have gone wrong and in what circumstances will their wrong answers be correct. I have also done university research projects and have completed two research projects and am currently working on the third one.
