About Myself
Parents know me as a very patient and sincere tutor who really wants to help my students improve. In my years of tutoring, I have an excellent track record; all my students showed improvement in their results (1-4 grade improvement). Track record: 2023 O levels students improved from E8 in MYE (Sec 4h) to B3 in O Levels after 6 months tutoring. Students for 1-2years tutoring consistently score A1/2. My approach would be to first assess their strength and weaknesses. For weaker topics, I will do an intensive crash course in order to get their foundation right and get them up to speed so that they will be able to cope with upcoming topics. Once the foundation is set, following lessons will include a light recap and revision of those topics whilst the main bulk of the lesson will then focus on the current topics and practice questions together. Nearing exams, we will be doing selected exam paper questions together for exposure and guided practice. I do my best to explain complex concepts in simple terms so that they will better understand and apply them. I will also explain the rationale for each step and point out important questions or concepts that will be commonly seen in O/N levels papers. I will also teach them methods and strategies that will help them overcome challenging questions and optimize their time during their exams. Students can also text me any time outside of lessons should they have any questions or require help with their homework.
My Experience
15 years private tutoring experience specialising in secondary and O / N level students for E & A Math. I started tutoring extensively while I was still pursuing my degree in NUS. My style is to focus on different working strategies and questions so that the student can be exposed to a variety of techniques in problem solving. One problem can have a few different approaches to reach the solution, and I like to teach my students the different methods and let them choose which technique they prefer so that it is easier for them. Students have feedback that my simplified explanations are clear and easy for them to understand.
