About Myself
For Science, I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation by helping students understand scientific concepts instead of memorising facts. I guide students in making connections between topics, applying concepts to unfamiliar scenarios, and developing the answering techniques required for open-ended questions. Through real-world examples, guided inquiry, and structured questioning, students learn to think scientifically and explain their reasoning clearly and accurately. For math, I adopt the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach and use chunking techniques to help students break down complex concepts into manageable steps. I also incorporate real-life examples to make abstract mathematical ideas more meaningful and relatable. Having been trained in ICAN (Improving Confidence and Achievement in Numeracy), I am particularly experienced in helping lower primary students develop strong numeracy skills and mathematical confidence. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's learning needs, strengths, and pace. I believe that lasting improvement comes from building strong conceptual understanding rather than relying solely on drilling. Students receive personalised guidance, targeted practice, and continuous feedback to ensure steady progress. Over the years, I have helped numerous students achieve significant improvements, including students progressing to AL1/2 for PSLE, substantial improvements in Science within a single academic year, earning Good Progress Awards and moving from average performance to becoming among the top students in their class. Many families have continued with me across multiple years and siblings, reflecting the trust they place in my teaching and commitment to each student's success.
My Experience
I am an MOE-trained Primary English and Mathematics teacher with over 14 years of teaching and tutoring experience, specialising in Primary level science. Since 2011, I have worked with students across Primary 1 to Primary 6, helping learners of varying abilities build confidence, strengthen their foundations, and achieve meaningful academic progress. I taught full-time at Tampines North Primary School from 2014 to 2017, I am currently a Flexi-Adjunct Teacher with MOE at Feng Shan Primary School and have also done teaching stints at Tanjong Katong Pri as well. My classroom experience has given me a strong understanding of the latest MOE curriculum, assessment requirements, and effective teaching strategies.
