My teaching philosophy centres on conceptual mastery before examination techniques. JC Physics is often perceived as one of the most challenging subjects because it requires students to connect multiple concepts and apply them to unfamiliar situations. I guide students to develop strong physical intuition, break down complex problems systematically and approach questions using logical reasoning. Once the concepts are firmly established, I introduce effective answering strategies and examination techniques to help students tackle both calculation-based and explanation-based questions with confidence. Every lesson is tailored to the student's individual learning needs and pace. I prepare customised lesson plans and provide carefully selected practice materials that target specific weaknesses and common examination question types. For students aiming for top grades, I incorporate higher-order application questions that develop deeper analytical thinking and prepare them for the most demanding A-Level and IP examination papers. I am passionate about teaching, patient in my approach and committed to helping every student reach their fullest potential. Beyond improving grades, my goal is to help students build confidence, think critically and develop a lasting understanding of Physics that extends beyond the classroom.
I hold a Bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and pursued graduate studies at Stanford University, specialising in Chemistry and Materials Science. My strong academic background allows me to explain complex Physics concepts in a simple, intuitive and structured manner, enabling students to develop genuine understanding rather than relying on memorisation. I specialise in JC H2 Physics, while also teaching IP, O-Level and Secondary Physics. Over the years, I have worked with students from a wide range of schools including Raffles Institution (RI), Hwa Chong Institution (HCI), River Valley High School (RVHS), Nanyang Girls' High School, Dunman High School, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Victoria School, St. Patrick's School, Bedok Secondary School, ACJC, NJC, VJC, SAJC, YJC, MJC and PJC. This extensive experience has given me a strong understanding of the differing academic standards and examination expectations across both the IP and A-Level curricula.
