About Myself
I keep myself updated with the latest MOE syllabus and examination requirements and regularly compile practice materials and examination questions from different JCs. I also develop targeted exercises based on each student's weaknesses, allowing lessons to focus on the specific skills they need to improve. I believe a positive and trusting teacher-student relationship is essential. Students should feel comfortable asking questions, challenging ideas and making mistakes as they develop their confidence. I track their progress regularly and provide constructive feedback so that students understand exactly where they are improving and what they need to work on next. My ultimate goal is to help students become confident, independent thinkers who can analyse issues critically, construct persuasive arguments and communicate their ideas effectively under examination conditions.
My Experience
As a full-time GP tutor in Singapore, I am passionate about helping students develop the critical thinking, writing and analytical skills needed to excel in General Paper. I chose to tutor full-time so I can provide each student with focused and personalised attention, tailoring lessons according to their ability, learning pace and areas for improvement. My approach goes beyond simply teaching students how to write essays. I focus on helping them develop clear arguments, evaluate different perspectives, analyse questions carefully and express their ideas in a precise, convincing and sophisticated manner. Students are guided to move beyond descriptive or one-sided responses and develop the depth, balance and nuance required for strong GP essays. I place particular emphasis on essay planning, paragraph structure, argument development, evaluation, use of examples and effective expression. I also help students build a strong foundation in current affairs and develop the ability to apply relevant real-world examples meaningfully rather than simply memorising them. For Paper 2, I work on comprehension skills, inference, summary writing and answering techniques to help students approach different question types with greater confidence.
